The tiny room warps with them:
alien faces that gape and leer.
Mom wants to admire the Cattleya hybrids
But I make a beeline for the freaky green ones:
Rainbow Spider, with maroon legs that spindle into the air
P. caudatum, who tosses witch-green tresses down the side of the pot,
hairy A. pubescens.
Then I wander around stuffing my eyeballs full of Big Candy,
Ticketyboo, trout-specked Warrigal Wonder.
I fall asleep thinking of Sundown, Moonlight, Black Star.
All night, they echo behind my eyelids:
Paradise, Moon Shadow, Elusive Dream.
