Poem no. 6 - Chatterbox under Epigraphs

Poem No. 6

Chatterbox Under Epigraphs - American Sentence

For Jee, who shares my love of epigraphs

C                 G7            F             G7
The smile on your face let's me know that you need me
C                       G7          F            G7
There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me
C                 G7               F                  G7   F G7
The touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall
    F               G7                      C    G7 F G7
Now you say it best when you say nothing at all

(When You Say Nothing At All
Recorded by Keith Whitley
Written by Don Schlitz and Paul Overstreet)

I like for you to be still: it is as though you were absent,
and you hear me from far away and my voice does not touch you.
It seems as though your eyes had flown away
and it seems that a kiss had sealed your mouth.

(I Like For You To Be Still - Pablo Neruda)

American Sentence

On the bright side, you can turn me upside down for an outboard engine.

  1. Ha, beautiful use of epigraphs and comic timing!

I like how you've included chord instructions with the song.
